Dave Burkum is the Director of Ministry and Development for
Christian Student Fellowship at the University of Minnesota. His work with CSF, which began in 1992, has provided him with a wide variety of service opportunities. Teaching, evangelism, music, cross-cultural outreach, apologetics, pastoral care, and religious affairs within the University community are all a part of his ministry. He is a graduate of Nebraska Christian College and the University of Nebraska, was ordained in 1980, and has had prior ministries in Minnesota, Nebraska, and Dallas.
As a musician, his activities include: concerts, recording, writing, and
publishing. He also enjoys orchestration and arranging. In recent years he has written and recorded the string orchestrations on several projects including the Grammy Award winning Worldwide (
Audio A). At the 2004 Dove Awards, he was privileged to write the string arrangement and conduct the orchestra for the performance of the Dove Award winning song, Ocean Floor (Audio A).
He has recorded and released five
CDs of his music, the most recent of which is a collection of sixteen scripture songs performed by a group of university students. The CDs are all available from
Sonoluma.
Dave and his wife, Cheri, have been married since 1978 and enjoy scrabble, bike rides, reading, walks along the lake, and camping. They and all their kids live in the
Twin Cities where life is good. They have three sons, a daughter-in-love, and two very above average grandsons. Their oldest son,
Tyler, is a professional musician and their sons, Page and Torrey, are aspiring musicians who currently work as free-lance graphic designers.
